Frequently asked questions
about JC Key Club
What do I do to join key club?
For all Students at JCHS that want to join Key Club, they can do so by filling out the application that is found on the HOME page of this website. It is important to note that it may take some time before you are contacted about being in Key Club.
What do you do in Key Club?
Key Club seeks to help service organizations that strive to address the needs of our community. We work with JC Champions to provide a day for Mentors to get to know their Mentee's; partnered with Parks and Recreation of Jefferson City to help them with their Ropes course; research the various Not-For-Profit organizations in the community that need volunteers; visit Thorpe Gordon Elementary through the Book Buddies program to encourage the next generations to engage in reading; and raise money through Paint The People 5k for those in need in our community. (See the JCKC Projects page for further details)
Can I help out with events and projects if I am not in the Key Club f.a.s.t?
We are always looking for extra helpers! Many of the activities, events or projects that we do in Key Club will always need volunteers. If you are interested in being a part of some of these projects, but are unable to be in the Key Club F.A.S.T, check out our Service Calendar or contact us for more information on how you can be involved in an indirect way.
Are there requirements in order to join Key Club?
Yes. Because of the nature of Key Club (students will be interacting with business leaders in the community, working with children, leading in service projects and helping to run events), all students are expected to be in good academic standing in all their courses and not have any issues with behavior or academics. Key Club students are expected to lead in some capacity and find something that they are passionate about that will help impact the community and/or school in a positive manner.
Key Club is an organization that allows students to capitalize on their strengths and strengthen their weaknesses. Students are expected to be a positive example at all times and a positive contributor/participant to the group and supportive to their peers.
When does Key Club meet?
Key Club meets during the F.A.S.T. block and we designate Tuesday's and Thursday's as the FAST days so students have an opportunity to take care of their course work and get help if needed. Occasionally it may be necessary to meet outside of this class time because of the nature of the events. So students can expect to put in some time outside of the class.
